victoria point state high school

This new technologies building provides an open and inviting space for the students at Victoria Point State High School to hone their robotic and culinary technical skills. Nestled at the rear of the school campus, this new building moulds itself to the landscape and welcomes the natural light and breezes deep into the internal spaces.

A full commercial and accessible kitchen is located on the ground floor of this two storey building. Above, a corridor overlooking the dense gum trees towards the north lead students towards an open collaborative space. To the right of the corridor, large sliding doors to the two robotics and four general learning classrooms allow for flexible learning spaces. In between each pair of classrooms, operable walls allow spaces to converge as one for extra flexibility and a large open plan staff room, the Head of Department's office, and supporting ancillary spaces are located at the other end of the corridor.

Collaboration was a key driver in this design and was considered both within the program but also in the configuration of the spaces; encouraging flexible modes of learning and opportunity for students to interact and work in an environment that is fit for purpose.
