It is a well-known fact that the kitchen is the beating heart of the home. As architects, it is important to us that this reflects the needs, desires, and tastes of those who use it. Among our portfolio, there are several kitchens that capture our client’s personal experience.

Colour Ply House’s name is exemplified in its kitchen. The client’s love of plywood is evident throughout this Queenslander renovation, offset by bright colours, bringing it to life.

Rosie’s House’s kitchen is characterised by intricate details and unique materials. The combination of granite, timber and white complement the home and its inhabitants well, whilst quietly straying from the norm.
Moreover, the absence of a splashback enables the connectivity through the home that was so valued by our clients.

The residents of Boston’s house sought a bright home with brass features and a unique kitchen slab. Although brass tapware and joinery hardware could have fulfilled this, we saw an opportunity to create something new. Furthermore, the tones of brass can be found in the timber floors and throughout the marble veining.

Similarly, View House’s residents possessed a love of timber, having incorporated it throughout their home. The unconventional material has ultimately tied together the kitchen beautifully. Additionally, the client’s desire to link the kitchen to their outdoor space was a key facet in the design, and now enables easy access and serving.

This is most recently conceptualised in River House. With intense colours and patterns, this kitchen is organised to reflect the resident’s daily needs, as well as the defining materials of the home.
This small collection of unconventional KO&Co ARCHITECTURE kitchens works to tie together the residents and their homes, and strives to encourage visitors to consider the benefits of a kitchen designed for themselves.
