Situated on the edge of the Brisbane River, the renovation of Carrington aimed to enliven the connection between the built form and the natural landscape beyond.

While the internal configuration remained largely intact, with small modifications to enhance spatial cohesion in plan, the project’s triumph was attributed to the finishes adopted in the interior fit out of these spaces. Neutral tones established a subtle backdrop to the warm timber elements, blending and complementing lush surrounding greenery to create a home among nature.

An extension to the lower terrace saw an addition of a pool pavilion beyond the edge of the existing pool. Remaining open and transparent, this mediates between the house and the river as a space of respite and reflection.
