Outdoor Room

Perched high above the trees overlooking the surrounding suburbs, this 1930′s bungalow had undergone a substantial renovation in 2007. The previous renovation had created a generous kitchen and dining area, which connected to the rear garden via a Juliette balcony and external stairs, however lacked an outdoor living area and connectivity to the swimming pool.

This renovation added an outdoor living room in place of the Juliette balcony and reconfigured the stairs to create a outdoor kitchen and dining area immediately adjacent the swimming pool. The detailing of the new addition replicates the detailing of the 2007 addition, allowing the outdoor room to be discretely inserted to the house’s story.

A relatively small insertion into the existing plan has completely re-imagined the way the house now functions.
