Karen has extensive experience in a variety of project types including private residential, high end and affordable housing multi residential developments, institutional, public and commercial projects. She is passionate about socially responsible architecture and has long standing affiliations with numerous not for profit organisations, including a position as founding board member of Specialised Programs and Community Endeavours (s.p.a.c.e).
Karen studied architecture in Brisbane and Milan and graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) in 2002. For the past 10 years, Karen has worked in high end design practices such as Gabriel and Elizabeth Poole Design Company, Arkhefield and DC8 Studio.
Amongst the many award winning buildings she has been responsible for, Karen was instrumental to the creation of Arkhefield’s Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, which received the Lachlan Macquarie Award for Heritage Architecture from the Australian Institute of Architects in 2011.
Karen believes the best built outcomes are achieved through honest collaboration between the client, the architect and the builder.
